Very Reverend Fr. Roshan J. L. SILVA, OMI took office as the Provincial Superior of the Oblate Province of Colombo during the solemn Eucharistic Celebration. He will be assisted in this service by Revd Fr. Philip Anselm Jagath ANTHONY, OMI; Revd Fr. James JAYASINGHE, OMI; Revd Fr. Anton Shivantha WAAS, OMI; Revd Fr. Chrishantha Jayalath FERNANDO, OMI, and, Revd Fr. Eymard DALPATADU, OMI, as the members of his Council. The Provincial superior animates and directs the Province to further the apostolate and the best interests of the members. The Provincial’s responsibilities embrace both the specific mission of the Congregation within the Province and the religious apostolic life of its communities and members. (C. 94) In writing to Provincials, Bishop Eugene de Mazenod, the Founder of the Congregation of the Missionary oblates of Mary Immaculate, insisted on the triple nature of their duties: as administrators of the Province, as pastors of their men, and as fathers of the family. Congratulating these Reverend Fathers, the Oblate Province of Colombo joins with the people of God, to whom they provide their services, in praying that they would faithfully and uprightly carry out the roles of leadership and animation that they have assumed.
