Relics of Our Dear Founder St. Eugene De Mazenod

Relics of Our Dear Founder St. Eugene De Mazenod The Consecration of the New Statue of St. Eugene De Mazenod with the relics inlaid marked a great moment in the history of the Oblate Sacred Heart Novitiate, Sidupiyanila, Bandarawela, Sri Lanka. This Occasion was graced by the presence of Very Rev Fr. Roshan Silva OMI, Provincial Superior of the Colombo Province together with his council members on the 12th of July 2021. We must be grateful to Mr. Athula De Silva, the SSP of Bandarawela Police Division and his family who helped us in this endeavour. Mr. Raymond Fernando from Moratuwa is a veteran artist who has carved around 220 wooden statues for the Churches around Sri Lanka and especially for His Holiness Pope Francis during his visit to Sri Lanka. (Six statues inclusive of Statue of Our Lady of Madhu, presented to Pope Francis at the Madhu Shrine). We appreciate him for undertaking to create this beautiful statue of our Dear Founder and inlaid Founder’s relics on it for the Oblate Sacred Heart Novitiate. We pray that St. Eugene De Mazenod may continue intercede to the Lord on behalf of Mr. Raymond Fernando and his family.
